Sunay is a PhD candidate interested in Out-of-Distribution Generalization, Regularized Optimization, Causality, and Student-Teacher Knowledge Distillation for Generative Models and Deep Learning. He previously studied Electrical Engineering at University of Tennessee, Knoxville (where he also played varsity tennis). Prior to graduate school, he worked for 3 years in the aerospace industry in optics and sensor systems. He enjoys surfing, pickleball, biking with his wife, and playing with his Goldendoodle Matcha.
